7 E What am I? Exaggerates your mood – if you are feeling happy will feel happier, if sad, sadder Increases confidence Can make people aggressive and argumentative Damages heart and other organs Causes cancer e.g. breast cancer Addictive

8 F What am I? Addictive - physically and emotionally Contains arsenic, mercury and lead Effect lasts about 5-10 mins Speeds up heart rates blood pressure therefore increased chance of heart problem It feels like it relaxes you Increased concentration

9 G What am I? Effect is excitement and happiness Effects are short lived so users keep topping up Can cause instant death Long term use damages brain, liver and kidneys Can causes psychological dependence Slows down brain and body

Is a stimulant and makes user fell more alert Can lead to anxiety and panic attacks Increases adrenaline which raises heart rate and blood pressure Can cause something like a panic attack - feeling very afraid, shortness of breath and sweating Mental health problems – paranoid thoughts Excessive consumption can cause death

11 I What am I? Is an analgesic/pain killer Also makes user feel calm or well Is addictive and comes from the same family of substances as morphine and heroin Usually prescribed by a doctor

12 Analgesics/painkillers Aspirin, ibuprofen and paracetamol, are not addictive. Small risk of problems with the extra-strength formulations of these medicines that contain codeine as an additional painkiller. Although dose of codeine is very low, it's a member of the opiate group of drugs Most painkiller addiction is related to prescription painkillers : e.g. higher strength codiene or morphine
