11. What are tag questions? A question “tagged” to the end of a sentence is called a tag question, isn’t it? Tag questions are also called “confirmation questions” because we ask them when we think we know the answer, and we just want someone to confirm whether the answer we know is correct. Ex: We are at the TPD session now, aren’t we?

12. The basic pattern of a tag question goes like this: It has two parts: 1. A statement and… 2. A yes or no question asking if the statement is true. The two parts are then separated by a comma. Ex: We are at the TPD session, aren’t we? (statement) (question)

13. Positive / Negative When the statement is positive, the tag becomes negative. When the statement is negative, the tag becomes positive. Ex: She can drive, can’t she? She can’t drive, can she?
