11  Literacy is foundation of education  You can educate yourself if you can read and comprehend  Lives depend on your success as a student  Highly educated people educate themselves

12  Sometimes there is no substitute for rote learning – memorization  Learning is difficult  No substitute for self discipline and hard work  Need high expectations
