1 Amendment 11 (1795) Lawsuits Against States Suits against states are held in that state States are immune from some lawsuits Amendment 12 (1804) Election of President and VP Changes Art. 2 of the Constitution VP is no longer the second highest vote receiver

2 Amendment 13 (1865) Abolish Slavery No involuntary servitude ****(even though it became a law, that doesn’t mean that it was enforced!!!!)**** Amendment 14 (1868) Equal protection under the law Define citizenship No person shall be denied Life, Liberty and Property without Due Process of Law

3 Amendment 15 (1870) Right to vote (Suffrage) Gave former slaves the right to vote if they were 21 years old and men Amendments 13,14 and 15 are known as the Civil War amendments, They were all needed to give freed slaves the same rights as all people

8 Amendment 24 (1964) Poll Taxes Made it illegal to charge $ to vote in a federal election Amendment 25 (1967) Presidential Disability Sets up who will take over office if Pres becomes disabled

9 Amendment 26 (1971) Voting Age Changed Voting age from 21 to 18 Amendment 27 (1992) Congressional Salaries If congress votes to give themselves a pay raise, it will not go into effect until after the next election.
