1 Final Project: Well, we made it! What a wonderful nine weeks this has been as we have explored the events and issues of the 60s and discussed how these have impacted our lives today. For your final project, you are to sit back and reflect upon all that we have learned by sharing our thoughts and ideas. In a well-thought-out, in-depth manner, respond to the following: Part I. How have the events and issues of the 60s impacted your personal life? a. Discuss two specific personal experiences that might have turned out differently had the events and issues of the 60s never occurred. b. Draw upon specific theories, concepts, and issues discussed this term to analyze how your personal life has been changed. You need to apply a minimum of three theories discussed this term. Part II. Considering your chosen career path and major discipline, how have the events and issues of the 60s impacted these? Using a minimum of two specifictheories and concepts from your major discipline, analyze a minimum of two of the events and issues from the 60s from that perspective. a. State your major discipline b. Explain two specific theories from your discipline c. Apply those theories and concepts to specific events and issues from the 60s d. How has your discipline or career path changed because of these events?

2 Part III. From a global perspective, how have the events and issues of the 60s changed international relations? a. Using a minimum two specific events and issues from the 60s, discuss how these events have helped to create a “global village.” 1. What are the positive aspects of globalization? 2. What are the negative aspects of globalization? 3. How has the worldview of the United States changed as a result of the events and issues of the 60s and since then? Your paper should be in proper APA format including: 1. Cover page 2. Reference page 3. #12 font –Times New Roman 4. 1-inch margins on all sides 5. Double spaced Each section should be a minimum of two pages. You should have a minimum of four outside sources, not including the texts. These sources should be scholarly, academic sources – no encyclopedias, Wikipedia, or Wikipedia-type Internet sources (answers.com, etc.).

3 Submitting your Project Save your Project in a location and with a name that you will remember. When you are ready to submit it, click on the Dropbox and complete the steps below: Click the link that says “Submit an Assignment.” In the “Submit to Basket” menu, select Unit 9: Final Project. In the “Comments” field, include at least the title of your project. Click the “Add Attachments” button. Follow the steps listed to attach your Word document

5 Unit 7 Key Concepts To help prepare for the final, here are the disciplines that comprise the social sciences that you learned about in Chapter 1 in Harrison & Dye. Keep in mind that each discipline has its own vocabulary, perspective on human behavior, and theories and concepts. -Anthropology – the study of human behavior with an emphasis on the physical, social and cultural aspects of human interactions with each other and the world around us. -Sociology – the study of human behavior with a focus on how we create our social worlds. This includes organizations, institutions and society. -Psychology – the study of human behavior with a focus on the individual. This area of study focuses on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of people as individuals. -Economics – this discipline utilizes theories of economic systems and the management of economics to explain the production, consumption and distribution of goods and services. -Political Science – political scientists focus on politics, the structure of government, and political institutions to explain power relationships. -History – the study of past events and patterns, and the implications of these events on current day.
