2 HOUSEKEEPING Collect:  Neon-colored synthesis worksheet &  Justin’s STEAL chart Announcements:  NEW to Landon students only: your extended deadline for the summer reading assignments is fast approaching. All mind maps and essays are due by 10/8 (regardless of A or B day.) Home Learning:  Neon-colored synthesis worksheet and Justin’s STEAL chart due by 10/9 for partial credit.  Read Wonder p. 205 -222 (chapters “North Pole” through “Goodbye”) Reading only. 4 PACKING UP CHECKLIST  #1 - Comp. books returned to bin  #2 - All your belongings packed up  #3 - My supplies neatly returned to where you got them (bins on desks are neat)  #4 - All trash thrown away & paper recycled  #5 - Desks in neat rows  #6 - Seated silently waiting for Ms. Barker to dismiss you  #7 -(8B only) Stack chairs on desks AFTER the announcements are done.  #8 – Does our cart look how it started?

5 CLOSING Exit Slip:  On your post-it write the two types of characterization. If we finish before time is called, we can practice the characterization chant!

6 CHARACTERIZATION CHANT TEACHER: What is indirect characterization? All: What the character says, What the character does, What the character thinks, What the character feels, What other people say about the character, And appearance.
