3 Why Using VoiceThread 1.Communicative Approach 2.The Emergence of Digital Natives

4 Communicative Approach Students have frequent opportunities to communicate in the world language. Teacher should use the second language (target language) for all classroom routines. Teacher should use Negotiation of Meaning techniques. Teacher should provide opportunities for students to use the target language to make connections to topics from other subject areas orally and in writing. 7 Best Practices for World Language Instruction App. 1.2 ( Page 3)

5 Communicative Approach Authentic cultural information is infused into world languages instruction. Teacher should present new vocabulary in a cultural context. Teacher should design cultural projects/tasks so that students must use the target language to complete the task. Class time is too precious to sacrifice target language practice. 7 Best Practices for World Language Instruction App. 1.2 ( Page 4)

6 Communicative Approach Vocabulary, grammar, and skills are taught in meaningful contexts. Teacher should separate communicative and grammatical practice.
