4 Big Picture To review the process of SMART goals.
To look at the principles involved and see how they can be used in sport to an athletes benefit. You will create a goal and set your own SMART goals for your PEP to help you achieve that target. 4

5 Learning Outcomes All pupils will be able to identify what SMART goals are. All pupils will set SMART goals for their PEP. Most pupils will explain how SMART goals can be used to benefit athletes. Some pupils will create their own SMART goals for in a sporting context and be able to assist in others setting SMART goals. 5

6 EXAMPLE In Practice S – I want to be the borough 100m champion
M – I know the time I have to run A – My coach and I have set this as a target R – I know I can beat the record – I have the potential T – To go to ‘All England’ at the end of the season

7 EXAMPLE How will I achieve this goal?
S – I am going to run the 100m faster and beat my personal best M – I am going to beat my personal best by 1.4s A – I will train 5 times a week R – I will run 0.2s faster each month in season T – It will take me 28 weeks to realise my goal
