2 About Mrs. D Oldest of 4 kids From Minden – graduated from Tri-Center Graduated from ISU Kyle, my husband and Ames, my son Ninja and Lucie, cat and dog Chiefs!

6 Morning Routine Come in and get out composition notebook – Date, daily geography question, DOL (orange sheets), Daily Precept Read with partner Fill out planners Go to the bathroom and get a drink before 8:18. Make sure you have everything you need for the day by 8:18 – you WILL NOT be able to go get anything from your locker once class begins. ALL NEEDS TO BE DONE BY 8:18!! I WILL COLLECT THEM EVERY FRIDAY FOR POINTS.

7 PE, Music, Art, Band/Choir Art is next door – you will have art class on You will have PE every day of the week with Mr. Strasko in the AC – you need to bring clothes and deodorant EVERY day! Music – with Mrs. Meiners Band/Choir – Band is T/Th/F Choir is M/W

8 Homework Math homework almost EVERY DAY Social Studies will be mainly in class work as will Science but there may be homework Reading – You are required to read 20 MINUTES EVERY NIGHT. It will increase to 30 in October!

9 Talking When I’m talking, you are listening! If your classmate is talking, you are listening! If Mrs. Gibbs is talking, you are listening! If ANYONE is talking, you are listening! WE WILL BE RESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE!

11 Lunch First lunch Go to lunch at 11:20 Wednesdays it’s 11:34 Clock watch for Mrs. Meiners – Sienna Lunch number is the same from last year Get your food and keep moving through the line Water bottles: You can bring them in a CLEAR bottle (no green Gatorade bottles!) and only water –NO flavors or propel

12 Schedules Hand out and tape in planners – Armando Grade scale in planners - Alexandra Tape on the inside of your planners front cover

13 Theme Dr. Seuss! Quotes on the walls

14 Birthdays I have a cat in the hat hat for each birthday You may bring treats – need to bring one for everyone in the classroom and it cannot be homemade

15 Holidays Halloween– you may bring a snack as long as you bring for everyone and we will watch it’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Christmas- we will watch either Elf or Charlie Brown Christmas Valentine’s Day – same as Halloween minus Charlie Brown Halloween movie

16 Work time If you are not in band or choir you will have a study hall every day during 6 th period. You WILL WORK ON HOMEWORK during that time – if you are all done there are plenty of practice things you can do and when you finish all of those you can READ Anytime you are done with work in class you may either read or practice math facts, etc. – when in doubt READ ALWAYS have a free read book at your desk!

17 Reading Four books we will be reading are – – Wonder – Number the Stars – Hatchet – Holes

18 Math Still Saxon You will be doing a lot of INDEPENDENT WORK I want you to work through the problem and then if you have questions you can come to my desk and we can work through it together

19 RESPECT You will treat everyone in this room with respect! How do we show respect?

20 By the numbers activity - Math Thomas hand out sheet to everyone You need to write down numbers that represent you – i.e. (for example) if you are the 2 nd child in your family you could write 2 Write 5-7 numbers that represent you - silently
