3 Syllabus Quiz 1. Describe the WR090 attendance policy. 2. Briefly define plagiarism and provide an example of plagiarism. 3. What are the major consequences of disturbing the learning of others by engaging in side conversations, texting, telephone calls, or repeatedly leaving and re-entering class? 4. Why must your homework be in hand when the class begins but not turned in until the end of class? 5. State what work can be turned in late and describe the late penalties. 6. Briefly describe the role pre-writing, revision, and rewriting play in this course. 7. What percentage of your grade depends on attendance? 8. Briefly describe the required writing format. 9. What are rubrics and how will they be used? 10. Where must your cell phones and other listening devices be during class time? Why? Extra-Credit: Let’s say your attention wandered in class, or you are not understanding what your instructor is saying, or you missed something in class, or you came in late. Name three things you can do to keep for asking your neighbor to explain.

6 Socratic Dialogue Norms  Reflect in writing to each question during the pre-seminar reflection period.  Listen carefully to others.  Stick to the question and support your position with references to the film or text.  Speak clearly, one at a time, with no cross-talk.  No side conversations under any circumstances.  Accept other people’s opinions without immediately judging them as right or wrong.  Participate openly.  Value other people’s opinions by acknowledging them.

7 Socratic Dialogue Read and review the norms for Socratic Dialogue Follow directions and engage with others in an organized discussion of the Introduction and Chapter 1 of Food, Inc. Write reflectively in response to these questions: 1.Should just a handful of corporations (companies) be allowed to control such a large percentage of the food market in this country?
