2 Why 20?  Charter strength requires 20 members  Most clubs contain numerous professionals  Approximately 30% travel day of meeting  A good Toastmasters meeting requires approximately 15 members  If you have less than 20, many need to double up TLI TrainingMembership - Get Ready, Set, Grow 2

3 Secrets to a Great Meeting  Effective Club programming  Promote your club to all communities  Provide “Sales” technique to guests  Increase retention of current members  Compete in Clubs, Area, Divisions Contests  Receive recognition of Toastmasters for adding new membership TLI TrainingMembership - Get Ready, Set, Grow 3

5 Get Excited  Clubs have different personalities  Ask - Who are you trying to serve?  Have fun!  Provide the best service  Consider changing the time, date, or location to increase membership?  Ask - Do you meet often enough? 7 The “Ideas” are Everywhere  Conduct Special “thyme” meetings  Encourage members to bring copies of application forms (Form-400) for all visitors  Conduct Success Leadership Modules  Conduct a “Moment in Truth” presentation  Consider Business Awareness Programs  Invite a newspaper reporter to a Club contests. Send cards or e-mail reminder to each and/or phone on weekly basis Become a mentor for new members Distribute Toastmaster magazines to libraries, schools, doctor offices, and anywhere you can Develop a Club newsletter and/or web site Add flyers to cars next to local grocery stores, malls, and movie theaters
