1 Poison Dart Frog By: Jeffrey Kubany

2 There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates.
These classifications are: Mammals Fish Reptiles Birds Amphibians

3 The Poison Dart frog The Poison Dart Frog is classified as a amphibian because it is warm-blooded Its skin is slimy and it has lungs part of its life.

4 The poison dart frog This frog is classified as a amphibian because it lays eggs in the water. The Poison Dart Frog spends most of their life near water because it needs water for its poison to protect itself.

5 Appearance There are varieties of Poison Dart Frog colors. They are pale green, blue, orange, yellow, red, and gold. They’re about the size of a paper clip. Their feet are not webbed for swimming.

6 Animal adaptation The biggest Poison Dart frog is three inches or two cm. long. The shortest frog is three quarters of a inch or two centimeters long. It’s much shorter than a mouse. The Poison Dart frog comes in many colors like pale green, orange, gold, yellow, black and red. The colors help to warn their predator not to eat them.

7 Habitat The Poison Dart frog lives on the forest floor of the Tropical Rainforest near water. The canopy of the rain forest protect the frogs skin from the ultra violent rays of the sun.

8 Behavior and social habits
They eat ants, termites, beetles, crickets and small spiders. They find these bugs by their great eye sight. The catch it with their sticky tongue.

9 Behavior and sociai habits
Males make a loud thrill sound to attract females.

10 Animal Adaptation One adaptation is that it is small. This helps it not be eaten .The Dart frog also has special colors that help camouflage in the rainforest. It also has it’s skin which secretes poison. This helps it survive* in the wild they are poisons. *In captivity they are not poisonous. This is due to their diet.

11 Predator It’s only predator is a snake called Leimadophis epinephelus.

12 The golden Poison dart frog is the most deadliest frog
The golden Poison dart frog is the most deadliest frog. It can kill small animals and human.

13 Some tribes have used their poison for their darts.

14 Some secretions of the Poison Dart Frog may have medical value for muscle relaxants, heart stimulants, and appetite suppressants.
