4 “ERA OF GOOD FEELINGS”  Federalist party ends  Political differences between people faded.  Monroe toured the nation (1st president to do so since Washington)

5 JOHN QUINCY ADAMS  Serves as Monroe’s Secretary of State  Makes policies based on nationalism  Nationalism- the belief that national interests should be placed ahead of regional concerns

11 MISSOURI COMPROMISE  There were 11 free states in the Union and 11 slave states.  Missouri and Maine applied for statehood at the same time.  Were they to be slave states or free states?
