6 The Equal Pay Act was introduced in the United Kingdom in 1970. At the time, women, on average, received up to 40% less pay than men when undertaking equal or similar work or work of an equal or similar value. This difference is often known as a ‘Gender Pay Gap’. Progress: Clearly, progress has been made in the UK in respect of both Gender Equality and narrowing the ‘Gender Pay Gap’. But precisely how much progress has been made ? Using the very latest figures produced by the T.U.C. in November 2014, in the UK what is: Bonus The Gender Pay Gap for Full Time Workers ? Bonus The Gender Pay Gap for Part Time Workers ? 16 % 34 %

7 In November 2014, the World Economic Forum revealed that the UK has fallen out of the top 20 most gender equal countries in the world behind Nicaragua and Bulgaria in statistically promoting an equal chance of a good education, career and health for both women and men.
