 The Chevy Volt is an electric vehicle being produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors and will be launched in November 2010.  Volt is an electric car that uses gas to create its own electricity and runs on a pure electric charge for up to 40 miles.  Volt uses a range-extending gas generator that produces enough energy to power it for hundreds of miles on a single tank of gas.  It’s battery can be fully charged by plugging the car into a 120-240VAC residential electrical outlet using the provided charging cord.  120 Outlet about 8 Hrs.  240 outlet about 3 Hrs.  Fully charged battery and under normal driving and climate conditions the Chevy Volt is expected to cover the daily driving of 60% of Americans.  The interior provides plenty of space and comfort for four adults.  Price MSRP $41,000 (Tax Credit $7,500 ) Around $33,500

 Both cars are considered eco friendly  Both use technology that is designed to decrease the use of gasoline fuel for powering car engines.  Electric cars are totally electric, meaning that they must be plugged in and charged, and that the range of the car is only as far as the charge.  Hybrid cars can be called a partially electric. They use of a mixture of gas and electric power. The primary source of Hybrid is the internal combustion engine, with a battery of electric cells.

It’s power train has an electric motor that powers the car for the first 40 miles. Then, with its batteries depleted, the Volt switches on a gasoline engine that acts as a generator, providing more electric power for the motor. With most Americans driving less than 50 miles a day, it’s possible that the majority of Volt owners will rarely hit the electric motor’s mileage cap.

Volt has two LCD screens that display speed, real-time feedback, battery power, range to recharge and an efficiency.

The main driver informational display a large white MPH indicator and an efficiency driving style. Whether the car is in electric or generator mode is indicated on the left where either a gas pump or battery icon will be shown along with that modality’s total remaining range. It can also be configured to show both simultaneously. The Main Screen Features

 On the center console you'll find a high- resolution screen 7 inch LCD displays with touch-sensitive control.  Shows the energy usage and miles per gallon used since the last charge.  Allow to program the charging schedule based on electricity rate plans  Standard navigation with voice recognition.  A climate control system Center Stack Screens features

 OnStart iPhone and Android apps. Are available for download.  You’ll be able to remotely unlock the doors, start the vehicle, activate the horn and lights and set a charge time.  Will provide real time info about the car’s tire pressure, lifetime mileage, remaining oil life and view fuel information.  Allow you to set a meter timer and remind you of where you parked your vehicle

 There are very few gas stations with electric charging stations.  Recently Chevy is working to add more charging stations to parking infrastructure and retail stores.
