בעברית, אין שינוי בזמנים והשינויים שנעשים מדיבור ישיר לעקיף הם בכינויי הגוף ובתאורי הזמן והמקום בלבד.
באנגלית, יש שינוי גם בזמנים: נשנה את הזמנים שבהם כתוב המידע המדווח לזמן אחד מוקדם יותר

ה- relative clause הוא פסוקית (נושא ופועל) בתוך משפט, המתחילים במילים which, that, where, when, who, whom, whose ומטרתה להוסיף מידע על שם העצם שבא לפניה או על חלקו הראשון של המשפט. בעברית ניתן להשתמש ב"ש".
