Diseases that are made likely by neglect of the body Cannot be passed from person to person Ex: Heart disease, cancer, diabetes Lifestyle choices that promote health can help prevent lifestyle diseases. Lifestyle disease

Teen belief Teenagers often believe that their lifestyle choices will have little affect on them when they get older. They are wrong, what they do today will catch up to them when they get older. Many of these lifestyle choices determine whether or not they get lifestyle diseases.

Risk factors Risk factors include: Poor diet Physical inactivity
Smoking Alcohol Unrewarding social interaction Other diseases Genetic traits

Family history People who are genetically prone to developing certain diseases should start making changes in their lifestyle as soon as possible. You should look at your family's medical history to see which diseases are common in your family.

FYI A family history with any of the following lifestyle diseases may be a warning sign for the younger generation: Cancer Diabetes Heart attacks Heart disease Hypertension Liver disease Obesity Osteoporosis Strokes
