3 CMNO Feb. 2013 Scan to Vehicle - Overview As part of ongoing efforts to modernize and improve efficiency, we are introducing a new scanning process within our dock operations called Scan to Vehicle. The new application will replace the Surface Transportation Report (STR) and automate the current manual process of creating shipment manifests through the use of Portable Data Terminals (PDTs). The objectives of this initiative are to: Capture real-time accurate transportation data electronically, including load details, product, shipping unit to transportation service, shipment status, despatch and arrival times; Provide real-time user alerts and accurate loading and shipping documentation; Make real-time shipment information available to the receiving facilities.
