Writing Warm-ups Week 1

In your composition book write today’s date and respond to the following: One of the most famous Star Wars quotes is above the whiteboard. Take a few minutes and free write about the quotes significance. Consider: What does the quote mean to you? How can you apply this to your senior year? Is what the quote suggests even possible?

In your composition book write today’s date and respond to the following: Did you read last night? If so, do a free write describing any difficulties you had with the text. Be specific! If you did not read last night, please do a free write explaining why. Did you forget? Didn’t have your book? Did you start and then give up? Please specify any difficulties you had so we can address them.

In your composition book write today’s date and respond to the following: Whether you read the chapters or not, read/re-read chapter 2. When you finish, write 3-5 sentences describing the Grendel attack on Herot.

In your composition book write today’s date and respond to the following: Write a 3-5 sentence reflection on your week in English 12 & English 12 support. Please be honest when addressing the following: How is this class helping you? If it is not, jot down the reasons why and what would work better for you. What are your impressions of English 12 so far? Harder than you thought? Easier? What are your biggest worries about the class.

In your composition book write today’s date and respond to the following: Think about what you have to do this week in your classes. Make a list of any tests you have coming up (hint, hint), projects to complete, or anything else you have to do. Of course you can include elective classes. After you complete your list, you can make a list of important things you have to do outside of school. Let’s get organized!!

Take a few minutes and think about your academic goals for your senior year. You MUST pass English 12/Government/Economics Technically, passing is a D- Is this good enough for you? What can you do different to finish your senior year strong? Free write about what else you want to do differently academically this year.
