9 5. Professionals and Medical Partners We are excited to have a team of coaches and medical professionals support the SMHS XC team in 2013. Our goal is to ensure your athlete stays healthy and has a good season. However, should early signs of injury or an injury occur we have teamed up with selected medical partners who will give preferential appointment times to the SMHS XC athletes. Just mention you are with SMHS XC team when you call. Below are 4 level s of injury prevention, diagnostic, and treatment you should follow: Level 1- SMHS XC Coaches Level 2- Massage Therapist, Chiropractor, & Physical Therapist Level 3- Physical Therapist Level 4- Orthopedic Doctor- General or Specialty

Training Groups Chris A Large Development Oriented Program requires enough Coaches to provide time and attention to coach your athletes In 2013, we will have 5 training groups, each with a coach assigned to that group for the season Groups Placement based on several criteria: Speed (PRs, time trail, meets), mileage over the summer, years of experience in running Placement in groups will be adjusted throughout the season based on athlete performance and coach observation in practice

13 8. Practice Schedule We have weekends off to rest: either complete rest or easy runs Athletes should NOT be racing in local road races between Aug 1- Nov 9 Chris

Team Dinners during XC Season Great way for the athletes to get to know their teammates; usually 50 athletes Either 1-2 nights before the meet; 6-8pm Host provides home Co-host provides plates, plastic ware, napkins Parents bring food, rotate what to bring based on last name Email sent out the week of on what to bring Need a parent coordinator Look for an email coming mid/late August to sign up to be a host/co host Don

18 Aug 24 Meet: Providence Inv in Charlotte, NC Parents wanting to Travel and Stay in Team Hotel: Contact Tammy Weeks Overview 60 schools, top NC & SC teams McAlpin Greenway Park (site of Footlocker South Regionals) Flat Fast Course with 1 big hill, narrow start 9am Varsity Boys, 9:30am Varsity Girls, 10am JV Boys, 10:30am JV Girls Eligibility: 15 summer training session by August 1 st * Attending practices as of the start of the season (minimum of 3 days as usual) * there are make up days post August 1 st - see Coach Kesterson Costs: $70 for 4 to a room; add $25 if you want 2 to a room Includes: Bus, Hotel, Friday Lunch & Dinners, Saturday, Breakfast & Lunch FLBC paying for $70 per athlete Payment Deadline: August 1 st
