Pronouns after Prepositions Unit 3 Lesson 1 Page 154 By: Gabriella Hanley

Prepositions Para De A Con Prepositions are words in Spanish like:

The Pronouns The pronouns after prepositions differ from subject pronouns mí nosotros (as) ti él, ella, usted ellos, ellas, uds. The only pronouns that change from subject pronouns are mí (yo) and ti (tu). When you use mí or tí after the preposition con, they combine to form the words conmigo and contigo. Example: I have a gift. Yo tengo un regalo. El regalo es para mí. The gift is for me.

Grammar Notes The pronouns after a can clarify to whom the sentence is speaking of. –Example: Les gusta caminar a la escuela. – A ellos les gustan caminar a la escuela. –The boys like to walk to school Verbs like gustar, encantar, interesar, importar and quedar. With these verbs, use pronouns after the preposition a to emphasize. – A mí no me gusta el bistec. –I really don’t like beef.

Putting it Together Tengo un regalo para ti. I have a gift for you. No voy con él; voy contigo. I’m not going with him; I’m going with you. Frankie camina lejos de nosotros. Frankie walks far from us.
