What is it used for? Coal Gold
Coal in mainly used to generate electricity. Gold is used for dentistry, and in some medicines. They also use it in jewelry, and in ingots as a store of value.

Effect on the Earth Coal Gold
It is a chemical complex fuel. Which means when it is burned it releases chemicals into the air which pollutes the air. When mining it, it can give of a chemical the is dangerous to humans. And mining can destroy the natural environment.

When they do coal mining it gives of chemicals that are very harmful. When the also do gold mining it gives of bad chemicals that are harmful.

How are they turned into useful energy?
Coal Gold When coal is burned is when it gives of most energy. We use it for; cooking, heating, lighting, farming. Gold responds to electromagnetic waves by creating surface plasmons that induce and project electrical current across molecules, similar to that of photovoltaic solar cells.

Dangers- they use mercury which is bad because it gets into the water source and can harm many things.

Coal Gold Coal mining damages the earth because they dig holes to get to the coal. It harms the animals and makes the environment look bad and it also pollutes the air. To fix it they have this program called land reclamation, they protect the animals and fix the mining holes. The gold rush in Australia. It damaged the environment, it killed many different species and killed plants. All they can do to help is protect what is left from the damage.
