Welcome to 3 rd Grade!!

Parking lot procedures Mornings & Afternoons Children load and unload from the curbs and at the crosswalks only. The West (back) parking is for teachers only. Children will be accounted for by their color coded dismissal cards. If your child will be leaving school differently than normal, please email your teacher or send a note! Please stay off your cell phones in our school zones.

Morning Procedures School starts at 8:25 Doors will be unlocked at 7:55 There is no supervision prior to this time, so please do not drop off before 7:55 am. Students that arrive before 8:25 will report to the gymnasium or cafeteria if they will be eating breakfast at school. Students that arrive after 8:25 will report to the office to pick up a tardy slip.

Curriculum Our curriculum is TEKS based from the State of Texas. The TEKS can be downloaded from the TEA website! http://www.tea.state.tx.us We will have a curriculum night to give you more information about 3 rd grade.

Classroom Newsletters This year your student’s classroom newsletter will be online. Simply go to the campus website. Click on Faculty & Staff and scroll down to 3 rd grade. Should you have problems locating the site, please contact your teacher.

STAAR Testing This test is completely TEKS based. The 3 rd grade STAAR test covers material introduced and covered from Kindergarten – 3 rd grade! STAAR Testing dates are in April

Take Home Binder Your child will bring their binder to and from school each day. This binder will include sections for their homework, behavior chart, important notes, and graded work. Please check daily and remove graded work.

Homework Your student will have math and reading homework weekly. Their math homework will consist of practice problems for recently taught concepts. The reading homework will be a reading log for your child to write about books they are reading at home.

Graded Work Graded work comes home in your child’s binder. On any assignment with a grade below 70%, the student will have an opportunity to correct their work. Students may request a re-take for a grade of up to 80% if they score lower than 70% on summatives/tests.

Chisholm Ridge Elementary Behavior Program Please be sure that you see and sign the Behavior Management sheet each Thursday night. Conduct grades are based on the number of additions and deductions your child has during the 9 weeks.

You can help! Volunteer! Let your student see you here! Listen to students read, help tutor, or help prepare teaching materials! Join PTA for additional opportunities to get involved in your child’s education. Please be sure you have filled out a district background check so that you will be ready when volunteer opportunities arise.
