2 a vacancy Meaning: The quality or state of being vacant; emptiness; hence, freedom from employment; intermission; leisure; idleness; listlessness. Example: - Larry's move to London has created a vacancy in Marketing if you are interested. - We don’t have any vacancies at the moment but we will keep your CV on file.

3 advertises the post Meaning: The advertising recruit for vacant positions in the company. Example: - Although the post was advertised last month, we promoted someone internally. - We advertised the post in the national press last week and have received lots of applications.

4 apply for a job Meaning: When you apply for a job, you’ll generally be asked to send in your CV/résumé, together with a letter or of application. A CV (short for curriculum vitae) or résumé is a brief account of your previous employment, education, and qualifications. Employers often receive hundreds of applications for a job, so it’s very important to make sure that your CV/résumé and job application letter create the right impression and present your personal information in a focused, well-structured, and attractive way. Example: - Ten people have applied for the job just from advertising it internally. - I've applied for that job in Glasgow even though I don’t really have enough experience.

Meaning: A letter of application, also known as a cover letter, is a job application document sent with your resume to provide additional information on your skills and experience. Example: - I've written letters of application for four different jobs but had no reply yet. - We have received letters of application from a wide range of candidates.

7 applicants Meaning: A person who requests or seeks something such as assistance or employment or admission. Example: - The number of applicants is very high. There are a lot of people with the right qualifications and experience. - We do a pre-selection of the applicants based on their previous experience.

8 recruitment agency Meaning: A business that is paid to find suitable workers for other companies and organizations. Example: - We use a recruitment agency to advertise the post and do a pre-selection. - There are several recruitment agencies who specialize in our sector so we can find highly qualified candidates quickly.

9 Job description Meaning: Detail of the responsibilities associated with a given job or a list of the responsibilities that you have and the duties that you are expected to perform in your work Example: - We have written new job descriptions for all the jobs in our department. - I don't think making the coffee is in my job description!

11 qualifications Meaning: The act of qualifying, or the condition of being qualified. Example: - For a post at this level, we consider experience to be more important than academic qualifications. - For this post, we give full training. The only qualification necessary is a high school diploma.

13 Experience Meaning: Knowledge or skill that you get from doing, seeing, or feeling things, or the process of getting this. Example: - I have a lot of experience managing a small team and would now like to manage a bigger one. - The best candidates are those who have previous experience in the food industry.

14 Salary and benefits Meaning: A helpful or good effect. The total amount of money that an employee is paid every year to do their job, or one of the payments they receive each month as part of this. Example: - Although the starting salary is not very high, the benefits include health insurance. - We pay very competitive salaries and provide some of the best benefits in the sector.
