To address all the four skills with emphasis on reading, listening, speaking and writing,
of speech;
To cover some sentence patterns of Chinese grammar;
Introduction/exposure to Chinese culture/tradition;

3. Speaking Command of the pinyin system;
Chinese pronunciation and the four tones;
To speak simple sentences with correct grammar;
To provide answers grammatically consistent with the questions;

4. Listening To follow simple classroom instructions;
To understand words, phrases, and short sentences aided by context and limited to

To understand the textbook materials within the studied vocabulary;
