2 Do now: Take out H.W. and leave on desk.
Calculate the M.A.D. of the following data (round to nearest hundredth): 4, 6, 10, 11, 14, 15. What are some things you notice? What are some things you wonder?

3 I will be able to: Calculate the mean using addition and division So that I can: use the mean to calculate the MAD of a data set, and interpret the data. I will show that I understood it by successfully completing at least 1 real world problem with my partner with at least 80% accuracy. 6.SP. A.2 6.SP. A.3 6.SP. A.4 6.SP. A.5

4 Language Objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of reading and writing to communicate the academic math language of statistics. They will verbally communicate and write/calculate the mean using addition and division to find the (MAD) of a data set, and interpret the data. They will show their understanding by successfully completing at least 1 real world problem with their partner with at least 80% accuracy. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: data point, distance between data point, deviation, mean, , deviation, mean absolute deviation (MAD).

5 Mini-lesson pg. 64 18 * 7 = 126 126/7 =18 Mean: 18
The mean is 𝟏8 pounds. There is no variability. All of the data values are equal

6 How do you feel? topic.

7 Students will work in groups to complete the assigned problems from pages 67-75.

8 Today, you will be completing the assigned problems from lessons 10 or 11.
You will work together to solve each problem on your pages, and then transfer the work neatly onto the chart paper. You will then participate in a gallery walk, in which you will spend about 3 minutes at each chart and evaluate the work of the other groups. Do you agree or disagree with their answers and why?

9 Problems to complete Group 1: pgs. 67-68 #5 (all)-6
Group 5: pg. 73 #7 and 8 Group 6: pg. 75 #2 Work together this is a PROJECT GRADE!

10 How do you feel? topic.

11 I can use my examples to help!
Homework: Handout (lesson 11 TTG)

12 Exit Ticket Handout

13 Accommodations Read or reread presentation or activity directions, as needed or after prompting Use examples to model and act as a guide for emerging learners
