8 SAT vs. ACT

9 The ACT is an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned in school. The ACT has 5 components: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing Test. The SAT is more of an aptitude test, testing reasoning, verbal abilities and essay writing. Most schools accept both tests, but it is up to you to take the test that highlights your strengths. Naviance offers free test prep practice in both. Access these practice tests to see the difference in test questions, and to prepare for an upcoming test.
