2. Robert E Lee was born January 19, 1807 at Stanford Hall in Westmoreland, Virginia
                                  

3. Lee had seven siblings.
His father was Henry Lee. He was sent to debtors’ prison when Lee was only two.
Ann Hill was Lee’s mother.

4. Lee got his education at West Point.
He graduated second in his class and with no demerits.That is how Robert received his nickname Marble Model.
After he graduated he went into the Corps of Engineers as a second lieutenant.

5. Lee married Mary Custis.
Mary was the great-granddaughter of Martha Washington.
Robert and Mary later had seven children..

6. Lee became a lieutenant in 1836.
He also was a general during the Civil War.
Later in 1852 Lee was appointed superintendent.

7. Robert’s major accomplishment was that he was an amazing leader.
He was a leader in the Civil War and when the United States began to split into the North and South he led Virginia.

8. After the war, he became president of Lexington College.
Later on October 12, 1870 Robert passed away from a stroke at age 63.
