2nd Grade Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Week of April 9, 2018 WEEKLY HOMEWORK A Peek at Our Week Reading: Main Topic We will identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text. . Writing Choose a writing prompt from the April writing calendar Math IXL Practice math facts Review shapes study guide Practice partitioning shapes Math: 2D and 3D Shapes We will learn how to identify 2-D and 3-D shapes. We will recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or equal faces. We will also partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares. Spelling Choose an activity from the April challenge board Choose an activity from the April Speller’s Choice activity sheet-their, equal, cycle Writing: Narratives We will write narrative in which we recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words, and provide a sense of closure. Reading Read for an informational text 20 minutes Raz-kids Go to Pebblego (school: East Side Elementary, username: easmedia, password: books) Research an animal and draw/label life cycle. Science/SS/Health: Life Cycles We will determine the sequence of the life cycle of four common animals (mammal, bird, amphibian, insect) and the life cycle a plant from seed to maturity by recording changes over a period time. Science/Social Studies Class Blog: Spelling & Word Study Spelling Pattern Language Skill Mark Your Calendar We will learn how to decode two-syllable words with long vowels. Ex: reptile, monkey, broken Past Tense We will form and use the past tense of frequently occurring irregular verbs when writing or speaking.
