1 Compare and Contrast Native American Cultures
Have paper ready to take notes you may find while watching the video on “Native American Cultures”. You will go to Blackboard and follow (SS resources/Native Americans/ Videos/Native American Cultures 3. Play the video and record five things on each of the different cultures. 4. When you are done, go to the desktop computer. Open up the file called “Venn”. Complete the Venn diagram on 2 of the cultures. When you are done, print your Venn out and turn it in. 2 a Brain Pop and Respond Click on the web site: and log in. 2. Do a search for “Native Americans”. Click on the video entitled “ Iroquois Confederacy”. While watching the video, have your vocabulary sheet with you. As you hear one of the vocabulary words, circle the word on your sheet. 3. When you have finished watching the video, complete a video response sheet. In your response you must use at least 5 of the vocabulary words. Check your spelling using the Spell Check app on the iPad. 3 Native American Presentation
You will use the “Wheel of What” app for a Native American group you will research. Those with the same group will get together, print a planning sheet from the computer (look for icon entitled NA planning), complete the information on food, location, beliefs etc. You and your group will create a presentation of your choice (song, skit, rap, info-commercial etc) that you create using information from your planning sheet. You will then have someone video the presentation and present it to the class. Students will rate the videos according to the rating sheet. 4 R Discussion Board Look up the definition adapt with a partner.
Draw a web with “NA adaptions” in center. With your partner, come up with 6 ways that NA adapted to their environment. Go to the computer and look for the file NA Cube. Complete the cube. Label your cube with your first name only. Print cube and create cube. Using your story cube, create your rough draft of your paragraph on how the NA adapted to their surroundings to survive. Ask a peer to read and critique work. After peer revision, conference with the teacher. Make any revision and complete final draft. Print your final draft and turn it in along with your story cube. 12. Go to discussion board and “create thread” to respond to the question “How did Native Americans adapt to the environment for survival. 13.
