Federalists versus Anti-federalists
Federalists: A supporter of the federal government and the U.S constitution. They believed in strong central government. Alexander Hamilton was one of the most important federalists. Anti-federalists: The movement that opposed a strong central government and the constitution was violate human rights if government becomes to large. Thomas Jefferson was one of the most important Anti-federalists. Created the bill of rights. Constitutional Convention: The meeting of state delegates in order to write the constitution. James Madison: The person that was most responsible for writing the constitution. Was a federalists The Great Compromise: An agreement made by small and large states on representation in congress. Created the senate and the house of representatives. The 3/5th compromise: An agreement that slaves would count as 3/5th a person for representation. Virginia Plan: The plan that argued that representation should be based solely on population.
