2 Social Worker What Social Workers Do: A Social Worker takes part in helping people resolve or handle the problems they might have in their everyday lives. Work Environment: Mental health clinics, schools, child welfare and human service agencies, hospitals, and private practices. Important skills: A Social Worker needs to have Compassion, Interpersonal Skills, Listening Skills, Organization Skills, Problem-Solving Skills, Time-Management Skills.

3 Demand, Requirements, Salary
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Overall employment of Social Workers is projected to grow by 19% percent from 2012 to 2022. Employment growth will be driven by increased demand for health care and social services. A bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW). Median Pay: $44,200 per year or $21.25 per hour.

4 My Job Shadow My purpose was to job shadow a person in the Social Work/ Human Services field. I went to Harold’s House and job shadow Becky Brown. Harold’s House is a safe place for child victims to speak out.

5 My Mentor Victim Advocate and Administrative Coordinator at the facility. Primary duty is to give support to children and families who have been part of a tragic event. She informs them of the different programs available and the different help they qualify for.

6 What I Did I was asked to join the staff meeting.
I was given a tour around the building and was introduced to the different rooms in the facility. Mrs. Brown showed me different flyers, while explaining to me the programs that are available for the children and the families.

7 Favorite and Least Favorite
Overall I enjoyed every aspect of my job shadow. Getting a feel of what a Social Worker takes part in. Being able to meet a forensic nurse and forensic interviewer. Having to hear all the sad stories.
