3 Why do you want to pursue this career? I love helping people solve their problems. I hate to see people sad, aggravated, and depressed. I love making people smile and brightening up someone day.

4 What is the job description? Psychologist is the study of human thought, emotions and behavior. Provides mental care in hospitals, clinics, schools and private settings. Helps people overcome problems and realize their full potential.

5 What high school studies are required to be a psychologist? Four years of English and Math Three years of history, science and Mathematics Act minimum 24-29 scores Act maximum 30-36 High school diploma

6 How many years of study is required? There is more than one degree that can mastered Psy. D. degree focus on a practitioner based model which requires four to seven years Ph. D. requires at least five to seven years

According to the Bureau of Labor statistics The median income for clinical counseling is $64,140 The middle percent is between $48,700 and $82,800 The lowest 10% earned $37,900 The highest 10% earned 106,140 Salaries may vary depending on which industry a person is in.

9 What is the projected market rate ? Employment is expected to grow 15% from the of 2006 to 2016 It is growing because of the higher demand in schools, hospitals, mental health centers, and social services agencies.

10 Helpful tips on how to become a psychologist… Look for volunteer opportunities in the community Score well on the ACT or the SAT exam Take an AP psychology course Maintain a high GPA all throughout your high school years Apply to colleges and scholarships before senior year
