Do Now Choose one of the following questions that you’d like to write your argumentative essay on and explain why. 1.) Should Hester endure the adversity of the scarlet letter? 2.) Should Dimmesdale have faced the adversity that Hester faces (public punishment and humiliation)? 3.) Should Chillingworth be punished for the adversity he causes Dimmesdale? 4.) Should Pearl overcome the adversity of her mother’s ignominious sin?
Objective: Students will be able to develop an argumentative essay on The Scarlet Letter.
