1 Project Pitch Gaming Magazine

2 What is it about? My magazine is a gaming magazine that focuses on the special 12 year anniversary of Blizzard’s, World of Warcraft. It will be looking back at the past 12 years reflecting on its story, growth and how it became what it is today as the largest MMORPG in the world. This magazine will be a special edition type of magazine, so will only have one release in production, then make it a future yearly thing when each anniversary approaches. As it is a magazine special edition, it will come to the price of £5 per magazine due to it being once a year as well as a special event. It will also include prizes, bonus content and details on their other games.

3 Name Ideas A few name ideas I have for my magazine are the following: Blizzard Magazine, PCGM (PC Gaming Magazine), WoW Magazine, and GG Magazine (Good Game). The name I would select for my magazine would be the PCGM title. I feel it would make it feel special as well as having something abbreviated would look good on the cover of the magazine with the definition below it. I was very close to selecting the name GG Magazine as it as term and saying that is well known in gaming. Here are some of the design ideas I have for my magazine title. The font designs are all in somewhat gaming style and will connect to the reader clearly which ever one I pick.

4 Targeted Audience My targeted audience for this magazine is targeted towards people who play, or have played in the past, World of Warcraft. It is also targeted towards people who are interested in PC gaming or MMORPG’s. The classification of my audience is based on people who enjoy World of Warcraft, who are males, aged between 25 – 39 and who are interested in computers, gaming, consoles and gaming franchises. 5 How will people find out?
People would find out about my magazine firstly by advertising on social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. It would also be promoted on Blizzards official website and BattleNet Desktop feature. Finally, it would be advertised as a special magazine on TV in a quick advert with some promotional posters in local book stores and higher chain book stores such as WH Smith.

6 Selling Point The unique selling point of this magazine is the fact that it is a special event and will be a one time a year thing. It will be to celebrate the anniversary of the game and its 12th birthday which is an impressive trait to have accomplished. It will have prize give aways included with this special edition such as in game rewards and a “grand prize” to one winner. It will look unique compared to other magazines due to the fact that this magazine will be purely focused on Blizzard and the 12 year anniversary of their game, not just a feature that will take up a few pages in a normal magazine, this magazine is based purely on one thing.

8 The Main Stories My main interview story will be about getting the opinions of people who have played World of Warcraft for a long period of time, hearing their stories and memories that they can share with the reader. I got inspiration to do this from a magazine I saw a while ago about the movie “Finding Dory” where after 12 years the sequel movie was produced and in that story it had some of the reunited cast tell the interviewer what it was like to return to that movie setting as well as some of their favourite memories from both movies. My main feature story will be about the history of the World of Warcraft expansion games to reflect the past 12 years and see how the game has grown since it was first created. I got this idea from a gaming magazine I read once in WH Smith about the new Call of Duty game that was soon to be released. They were comparing the newest game to the first ever game to see how far they have come as well as going game by game onwards to see how they improved over time and how it was made to be how it is represented today. It was laid out with plenty of screenshot images from the spoken past games around the connecting text which is the kind of style I would like to imitate in my own fashion

9 Conclusion In conclusion, I believe my magazine will be a success because of it being a special edition that celebrates a huge mile stone that has something to give back to the millions of people who still play the game with in game rewards and a grand prize. Also it will be a one time thing until the next anniversary so it will be a one time feature that wont be repeated for this year. With the magazine focused upon one target and with the other connections be a second priority, it will make the magazine feel important and special especially to the people who have been long time fans of Blizzard.
