EXPECTATIONS AND ARRANGEMENTS
PRELIM EXAMS 2019 EXPECTATIONS AND ARRANGEMENTS

EXAM PERIOD The Prelim Exams will run from Monday 14th January to Friday 25th January inclusive. During this Exam period all S6 pupils and S4/S5 pupils with 3 or more exams will have Study Leave. Arrangements should be made with Subject Teachers to come in for support with revision. S4/S5 pupils with less than 3 exams will attend school to complete any outstanding N4 work. Pupils may also wish to arrange some extended work related experience at this time. You may take one study leave prior to each exam that you are sitting.

EXAM PERIOD College courses (and the bus!) will continue to run as normal and you MUST attend. You must wear school uniform whenever you are in the school building and for all exams. Ensure you have a study plan and are prepared for your exams – By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail! Make sure that you know when and where your exams are taking place.

EXAM TIMETABLE Please ensure you have checked this carefully and inform Mrs Thomson of any issues.

ABSENCES/LATES Please inform the school as soon as possible if you are going to be absent for an exam. Late entry to the exam is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the Invigilator. No pupil will be allowed in late to a languages or other listening exam.

EXAM ARRANGEMENTS You MUST ensure that you have the correct equipment with you on the day of the exam (blue/black pen – NOT PENCIL, ruler, eraser, calculator, etc.) If an exam allows the use of a calculator, especially a scientific calculator, you MUST bring one with you. There may not be enough spares! You MUST ensure that you are present at least 15 minutes before the start of each exam. You MUST ensure you are at the correct location for your exam. You will be instructed by Invigilators where to leave your bags, jackets, etc. You will NOT be allowed to leave your jackets and bags on the back of your chair or under your desk.

EXAM ROOM During the exam you MUST follow any instructions issued by the Invigilator. If you are finished early in an exam, you MUST sit quietly and not distract others, using the time to check work and ensure you have not left any questions unanswered. You may only leave early with permission from the Invigilator. All question papers, answer papers and exam materials MUST be left in the exam room at the end of the exam. If the fire alarm sounds you should follow the instructions of the Invigilator(s) for evacuation.

PROHIBITED ITEMS Mobile phones, even though they are switched off, are NOT permitted in the examination rooms. Should a mobile phone ring, the pupil will be asked to leave the examination room and will NOT be permitted to complete the exam. You must not have any of the following in your possession during the exam: mobile phone/WAP enabled phone music/MP3 player calculator — except in specified subjects dictionary — except in specified subjects cases — calculator or pencil, etc. books, notes, sketches, paper of any kind, or any other prohibited item
