Elected assemblies that had the power to tax Members were elected by white male property owners over the age of 21. Patroons were wealthy landowners in New Amsterdam that ruled like they were kings. The Middle Colonies

Some had slaves and some had indentured servants.

In PA – William Penn believed that the Native Americans owned the land and should be compensated (paid) for it. Hence good relationships were formed. In general, it could be said that the Middle Colonies had the best relationships with the Native Americans.

Hostile relationships as the colonists took over more and more land for cultivation. In VA – Land was taken from Native Americans regardless.
