Must be heard and understood by everyone in the audience Must convey the kind of character you are playing Must convey what your character thinks and feels about the events taking place Must be able to withstand arduous rehearsals

3 Vocal Production The Diaphragm
muscular body partition between the chest and abdomen Diaphragmatic breathing requires less effort than chest breathing and allows you to project for long passages without running out of breath Your chest cavity is relatively still while your waistline expands and contracts

4 Articulators tongue, teeth, cheeks, jaw, lips, hard and soft palates
Parts of the mouth that control the enunciation and clarity of sounds produced

5 Resonators Throat, nasal cavity (nose), oral cavity (mouth)
Controls vocal tone and the way each individual sounds

6 Other vocal production elements
Lungs- hold air Larynx- upper part of trachea, contains vocal cords Vocal folds-known popularly as vocal cords, are stretched horizontally across the larynx. They vibrate, modulating the flow of air being expelled from the lungs during vocalization.
