15. 1. BE ON TIME
Lateness is rude and repeated offenses will affect your grade.
Begin working on daily assignment when the bell rings.
If you arrive after the bell, please sign the clip board.

16. 2. BE PREPARED
Bring all needed books and materials to class and take them with you when you leave.
A up-to-date and complete notebook is part of your grade.
Always take notes during lectures.

17. 3. BE RESPECTFUL WHEN OTHERS ARE TALKING
Do not interrupt when someone else is speaking.
Do not curse or use put downs.
Everyone’s opinion is important.
Do disagree, but be prepared to support your opinion with facts.

18. 4. ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN WORK
Cheating is not tolerated and will result in a zero – no exceptions.
Do not allow others to copy your answers.
Study, be prepared, and have faith in yourself.

19. 5. KEEP THE CLASSROOM NEAT AND CLEAN
I keep this classroom clean and neat for you, I expect the same.
Never write on the desk or destroy property belonging to others.
All garbage goes in the wastebasket.
No food allowed in class.

20. 6. DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE IN CLASS
Texting or listening to music during class is forbidden.
Consider yourself warned, no second chances.
Using your phone will result in a referral, central detention, and a call home.

Keep the classroom neat and clean.

25. Class Dismissal I plan to teach right up to the bell.
Do not start packing up early, it is rude.
Wait until the I am finished and officially dismisses you with:
“Have a nice day”

PLEASE participate I want to hear what you have to say
Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion
Wait to be called on to speak, do not call out for any reason
If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.

28. Moving Around the Room You must ask permission to leave your seat
Make sure you have all material BEFORE class starts
No restroom the first or last 10 minutes of class
Do not ask during a classroom discussion

29. Homework Check for HW assignment on left side of blackboard.
HW will be posted on web page also
Homework will be checked in your notebook periodically and collected on Friday – if you do not have it with you, you are given a zero.

30. If you are absent..
You are responsible for all work missed while you are absent.
Announced tests and quizzes will be made up the day you return.
Homework is due the day you return – check the homework web page or call a friend for assignment.

31. Notebook Format Binder/Notebook must be used only for Social Studies.
Your name is clearly written on the cover or first page.
Syllabus is first page in binder.
Pages are neat and each page is dated and titled with Chapter and Section #

32. Defining Vocabulary Words
Use your own words.
Find definition in the reading not the dictionary.
Give examples when possible.

33. Taking Notes Board = Paper
Everything on the blackboard, power point slide or overhead is important – WRITE IT DOWN
Use your own words where possible.
Underline or highlight important concepts.
Pictures and graphic organizers may be used.
Read over your notes at least once per week.

34. Progress Reports
Periodic progress reports will be provided to students.
Grades may be viewed on Power School at any time
Any student may discuss their grade by stopping by Room 308 after school.
It is inappropriate to ask for personal grade information during class time.

35. Substitute Teacher
Substitute teachers should be treated with respect and students are expected to behave appropriately.
All work provided to sub has been carefully selected by me and is relevant to our studies.
Work must be handed in and will be graded by me.
Zeros are averaged into your term grade.
