3 STDs Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDS): are caused by infections that are passed from one person to another during sexual contact. Called “silent infections” Early stages may not produce symptoms By the time the symptoms appear, it is often too late to prevent complications or the spread of the infection to sexual partners Some symptoms are seen in diseases that are not sexually related

4 STDs Consult a physician if these symptoms appear:
Burning sensation during urination Pain in the lower abdomen Fever or swollen glands in the neck Discharge from the vagina or penis Pain, itching, or inflammation in the genital or anal area Pain during intercourse Sores, blisters, bumps, or a rash anywhere on the body, particularly the mouth or genitals Itchy, runny eyes
