1 Sustainable development
Anything that is added to the environment and has a negative affect on the environment or its organisms. Pollution Warming effect produced when gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, trap heat in Earth’s atmosphere. Green House effect/ Global Warming Natural resource that is used more quickly than can be formed. Resource that replenishes itself quickly enough so that it will not be used faster than it can be produced Nonrenewable resource vs. Renewable resource a measure of human demand on the Earth's ecosystems…amount of land necessary to produce and maintain enough food, water, shelter, energy, and waste for human life. Ecological Footprint Practice of not using natural resources more quickly than they can be replenished Sustainable development

2 What is likely to be caused by the burning of fossil fuels?
A lake that has been affected by acid rain may have an altered pH level. Although the pH may be lower than normal, the lake may still appear blue and clear. Why may this occur? Acid rain may affect the whole lake ecosystem by first killing algae that cause cloudiness. acid rain, global warming , and an increase in smog What is likely to be caused by the burning of fossil fuels? What is an example of using biological pest controls to contribute to sustainability? adding ladybugs to the fields of crops animals living in the forested area will either die or be forced from their habitat or may become extinct. Greenhouse gases will increase as carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. What are some global effects of deforestation? Types of particles suspended in the air like dust and soot that can be breathed into lungs and affect human health. What are particulates and why should we be concerned about them.
