1 Electricity generation from mustard crop residues: Ganganagar & Tonk, India

2 Project activity overview
Tonk District, Rajasthan Population: 1,421,000 One of the poorest districts in India We serve the farmers of Ganganagar & Tonk In 2006 the Ministry of Panchayati Raj named Tonk one of the country‘s 250 most backwards districts. Most of the population depends on agriculture.

4 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
Payment to farmers increases the income of the poorest farmers and 35,000 logistics workers get the chance to participate in this sector. Since beginning of the project a €45 million business has been generated for the farmers by selling biomass to KPTL. Kalpataru purchased Mustard Crop Residue and other biomass from farmers of about Euro 45 Million in last 15 years.

5 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This Project delivers…
Workers of the company and their direct family members benefit from a company health insurance policy including a sound health prevention system. Installed Street Lights. Constructed Bust Stand, traffic circle, community hall, cow sheds. Organise medical and health check up camps. Started a dedicated Kalpataru Medical Center for all, on subsidised cost.

6 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This Project delivers…
Workers of the project receive a reimbursement of the school fees for their children's education. Books and uniforms are donated to schools. Provided Computers & furniture, sports equipments to schools. Scholarships to meritorious students for higher studies. Constructed toilet blocks & classes in Government Schools. Provided training on Health, Safety and Environment in School etc.

7 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
Educational programs for woman are financed. Female workers of the company are protected by a dedicated company policy.

8 Donated Water Cooler & RO at Govt. Hospital, Aligarh, Tehsil-Uniara
SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers… Water purifiers are distributed to schools and hospitals. Rain water conservation Pond Constructed by KPTL Donated Water Cooler & RO at Govt. Hospital, Aligarh, Tehsil-Uniara Anicuts constructed under Government Scheme to save the rain water benefitting a few villages. Reverse Osomis Systems and Water Purifying System installed at various pubolic utility places for clean drinking water. Constructed toilet blocks and provided municipal waster collectors.

9 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
The project supplies firm renewable energy to the grid and is a key component of reliable and sustainable energy supply in the future. Reducing Transmission and Distribution Losses, being generation dispersed in rural areas. Increasing availabilty of quality power in the region. Neutralizing green house effect. Reducing use of conventional/ fossil fuels.

10 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
The project has created new jobs in the biomass market and in the power plant itself. Apart from the 7000 farmers and their direct family members benefiting, about 35,000 jobs have been created in relation to logistics of the biomass. Skill enhancement of employees. Improvement in knowledge by working in corporate sector. Providing very good working environment and faclities to employees and stakeholders. Sustainable additional income to farmers i.e. 5 million euro every year by selling biomass to KPTL. Good salay packages of employees and workers. Good development of local rural market etc.

11 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
The project created a structural change of the local biomass market and the related logistics, giving an incentive to others to follow. Soil Separator Machine Pioneers in the Biomass Power Generation in the State of Rajasthan. Earlier no use of Biomass & which was burned in open by farmers. Innovations in machineries for processing of agricultural waste. 10 more biomass power plants came up in the State of Rajasthan. Multiple users of Biomass in other industries. Road infrastructure and automobile market improvement. Technological improvements helped in optimum resource utilisation. Dust Separator Machine

12 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
The applied technology makes it possible to share the generated value with others. The project is building a bridge to industrialized countries to extend cooperation programs. Improving the regulations and monitoring of financial markets and institutions. Encouraging development assistance and foreign direct investment to regions where the need is greatest. Earning Carbon Credits from developed countries reduced inequalities in developing rural areas and increased the income to some extent.

13 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
The project gained experience in the sector of biomass power generation and is continuously improving the technology and the efficiency of the plant. Sustainable production and availability. Improved biomass fuel harvesting, collection, transportation handling. Improved biomass storage and its coverage helped in protecting Gross Calorific Value and quality. Utilisation of various biomass fuels. Increased availability of biomass.

14 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
The project reduced more than t of CO2 until today. Developing Green Belt areas inside and outside the project boundaries. Tree plantation in the region. More than 5000 trees developed inside the project area. Air and water pollution control systems are in place.

15 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
KPTL is promoting wild life conservation and rewarding every year to the person working to save the life of black buck. Constructed water pond for wild life. Provided CCTV cameras to monitor the activities of tigers. Provided biogas plant in vllage for stopping tree cutting. Scholarships to meritorious girl students living on the periphery tof tiger reserve.

16 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…
The project is actively promoting national and regional policies to strengthen the sector in the long run. The Chief Minister Govt of Rajasthan Reward Kalpataru for delivering Corporate Social Responsibility in the State No dispute with any kind of stakehloders. No industrial dispute. All kinds of corporate policies as per prevailing laws in place. Projects are pioneers and role model for Government Institutions for making new policy frameworks.

The project actively promotes the south north dialog on climate action, sustainable development and technology transfer. Project is delivering in reducing emissions, sustainable development and also the technology transfer by utilising biomass as fuel. Successfully delivered carbon credits in quantity, quality and time frame.

18 SDG IMPACTS DELIVERED This project delivers…

19 HOW IS OUR PROJECT INNOVATIVE
… because: … it is developing know how to run a power plant on mustard crop residues in an challenging market environment … it develops a new market for biomass that inspires also other industries to switch from fossil fuel to renewable energy. We received a Renewable Energy India award 2016 for Best Project in India
