Honors Anatomy & Physiology with Mr. Houtz Pick up a student survey & fill out silently at your lab table

2 Before we get started…. Make sure to do the following:
Put away cell phones, headphones, extra stuff! Have a pencil/pen Place backpack/bags underneath you or at the back Be silent when Mr. Houtz is speaking!

Finish working on your student survey This will be due by the end of class While you are working on this, Mr. Houtz will pass out the syllabus

9 Attention Please! Mr. Houtz will raise one hand in the front of the class Students should face forward, be silent, and place hands in front of them When all students are ready, we can move on to the next activity

10 Classroom Guidelines Follow directions the first time they are given
Use positive and supportive language with adults and peers Keep only necessary materials for a given lesson out and accessible Remain in your seat unless given permission to move

11 Consequences The order of consequences is as follows: Warning
Conference Time Out / Move seat Time Out from class Phone call home Referral *I reserve the right to use my own discretion to determine the appropriate consequence.

12 Homework When we have homework
I expect you, at the very least, to attempt each question Inspected while you are working on the Science Starter. For this reason, homework should be removed from your binder and sitting on your desk when I pass by at the beginning of class.

13 Grading Tests/quizzes/projects = 70% Homework, Participation= 30%
B :80-89 C :70-79 D :60-69 F :59 and below

14 Retakes If you wish to retake a test, you must retake during lunch or after school. You will have 2 week from the original date to retake a test. You cannot retake a test if you have any homework or class-work missing for that unit.

15 Materials Wanted! If you need pencil/paper/tissue/tape/staples////
PLEASE raise your hand and ask if you are already seated Once class starts everyone is expected to remain in their seat unless directed otherwise TRUST ME … it can wait 

16 Emergencies More on safety tomorrow, but…
If there is a fire drill we will do the following: Grab anything you want to keep! Place any important items at the front Exit out the fire stairs Proceed to the old student parking lot

19 When You Walk In Be in your seat before the bell rings.
Place homework at the front of table On your Science Starter, right down the date and Essential Questions, and answer any warm-up questions If completed during the time points awarded Warm Ups will be checked at the end of every week ** Only enter through right door, DO NOT knock

20 The BIG Goals We will help each other and push ourselves to:
100% of students will achieve 85% or above mastery of objectives. Students will take responsibility over their own education and their choices. Students will be prepared for a life after Vance High School.

21 Syllabus Scavenger Hunt
You should receive a scavenger hunt sheet to help you walk through the syllabus You are to complete this on your own during the next 10 minutes If you finish early, be sure to finish your student survey This will be a practice in independent work

22 First Homework Assignment
Due tomorrow (write this down!): Signed Syllabus (read all rules/procedures on your own) Materials – you are expected to bring the following every day (Required by Friday!) Pencils, pens, paper Binder **If you cannot obtain these items please talk to me after class

Anatomy- The study of the structure of the body Physiology- The study of the function of the body Prerequisites (recommended): Chemistry 1 (passed with C or higher) Biology 1 (passed with C or higher) An interest in medicine/health!

25 Exit Procedures Pack up silently and independently
SOLO/SILENT When Exit/Summary is put on board you must stay in your seat until the bell. Work silently and remain in seat Put work in box when you are dismissed You are not to pack up or get up to leave until that bell rings!
