After the F & I War, the colonies and Britain begin to grow apart
One of the first laws that parliament passed after the F & I war was the Proclamation of 1763 Colonists were upset

King George III wanted enforce the Proclamation of1763 so he kept 10,000 soldiers stationed in the colonies Parliament passed the Quartering Act to save money by requiring the colonists to house and feed the soldiers

British Taxes To raise revenue or income parliament passed the Sugar Act The Sugar Act = Tax on sugar and molasses Smuggling increased

1765 Parliament passed the Stamp Act Required all legal and commercial documents to carry an official stamp. Led to boycotts or refusal to buy British goods

The Townshend Acts: Suspended N. Y
The Townshend Acts: Suspended N.Y.’s Assembly; taxed goods before they reached the colonies. To enforce these acts, British officials used writs of assistance to justify entering homes and businesses looking for smuggled goods
