Learning Goal: Participants will understand the expectations of students taking FSA. Participants will: Understand the expectations of students taking FSA. Understand the types of questions students can expect to see on FSA. Know the dates and time of the upcoming FSA. Learn about places they can go to find out more information regarding the FSA.

3 Student Expectations The Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) developed by the American Institutes for Research (AIR) demand students… maintain an increased sense of accountability toward their own learning develop a concept beyond an opinion and move to “support and evidence” think in a more conceptual, analytical and global manner shift from mere memorization of terms to a deep understanding of meaning transfer skills to new experiences operate in a more student-centered environment with built in peer collaboration utilize higher-order, critical thinking skills (See next page)

6 FSA ELA Writing and Reading
Grades 4 & 5 FSA ELA Writing will be administered on paper ELA Writing Sessions are 120 minutes. Writing Makeup Windows will be offered Students in Grade 3 will take the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) English Language Arts (ELA) Reading test on Paper. Students in Grades 4 & 5 will take the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) English Language Arts (ELA) Reading test on the computer. There are two sessions for FSA ELA Reading; you will complete the sessions over two days. Grade 3, 4 & 5 students will have 80 minutes for each session.

Graphic Response Items For these items, enter your response by drawing lines between matching words or phrases. Drawing lines is the correct way to enter your answer ONLY for the items that ask you to do this. Example:

Editing Tasks For editing items, choose the correct word or phrase to fill in each blank in a passage. For each blank, fill in the bubble before the correct word or phrase. If you write your answer in the blank but do not fill in the bubble, your answer will not be scored.

Two-Part Items For these items, such as the one you’ll see on the next slide, enter your responses to two related questions. The two parts of the item may be either multiple-choice (one correct answer) or multiselect (more than one correct answer), so be sure to read the item carefully to know how many correct answers to choose.

21 CBT Practice Tests FSA This fall, FSA PRACTICE TESTS available for each grade-level/subject test; CBT students are required to participate in a practice-test session prior to testing Practice Tests are available in the FSA Portal FOR MORE INFORMATION, contact Classroom Teachers
