Assesses the higher expectations of the Florida Standards Provides a basis for comparing Florida performance to that of other states Emphasizes analytical thinking Provides a more authentic assessment through a variety of item formats Increased complexity of texts Focus on foundational math skills and application in novel, real-world situations Increased focus on justifying and presenting results and methods Critical reading and writing infused across all curricular areas Re-ordering of math content to reflect research-based path to college and career readiness

All Rights Reserved. 7 The FSA ELA includes the Text-Based Writing Component, administered separately from the rest of FSA ELA to allow time for handscoring; it will be reported as part of a single ELA score. Writing component is 120 minutes (2 hours) Math and Reading components are 2 day, 80 minute sessions.
