Woman stood home through pregnancy and then nurturing the children
Men were hunters, traders and warriors
Men protected the group by fighting wars
Men had control of weapons and gathered prestige through fighting wars

3. Conflict perspective Gender roles are a reflection of male dominance
Men control the economic and political institutions
Men have established laws and customs that protect their dominant position
In doing so men have blocked women’s access to power

4. Sexism and Discrimination
Sexism is the belief that one sex is by nature superior to the other
Gender discrimination happens when a female is denied equal opportunity based on her gender. ( Males rarely get discriminated because of their gender )
