Benefits and Challenges
of the 4x4 Schedule Students have only 4 classes on which to focus. Students can “double up” in certain subject areas (e.g. take two World Language, Math, or Science classes in one year). Students can take numerous electives. Students have more schedule flexibility and can take “free periods” while still meeting college and graduation requirements. Course content moves at a rapid pace. Students sometimes choose too many demanding classes instead of exploring electives. Students will have “gaps” between sequential courses. If students are absent frequently, they will fall behind in their classes. Classes meet every day. If students do not do their homework, they fall behind quickly. Benefits Challenges
