1 Social Media and Marketing Plan
Mid-American Hockey Social Media and Marketing Plan

2 6 Step Marketing Plan

3 1. Set social media goals and objectives
Determine why you want to be on social media? Whatever the reason may be, you have to know why you are on that platform. Set mission statements for each social media account: “We will use Twitter to post, retweet, and engage with our audience instantly and in present time to have an up-to-date and live news feed.” Set goals for posts’ engagement: “for Instagram we will post photos and videos that communicate our organization`s culture. We will do this by posting three photos a week. The target goal for each is at least 30 likes and 5 comments.”

4 2. Conduct a social media audit
Find out who is running the different platforms, including the website, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Ideally only one or two people should be running these platforms for less miscommunication and greater consistency to look/feel How often are we updating and or posting? Are the profiles linked with one another? What social media accounts do we have and which do we need get on?

5 3. Create/Improve Social Media Accounts
Social media platforms should be designed to be intuitive to the end user Each social media account should be cross promoting the others for more engagement on them all The profiles of each should be filled out completely and images or text should be optimized.

6 4. Have a Content Plan For each social media platform:
What do we want to post? How often are we going to post? Facebook- does not have to be daily but at least every other day. News stories/articles Pictures/videos Updates Twitter- Live updates (what`s happening right now) Photos/videos Tweets/retweets Likes

7 4. Content Plan Instagram Snapchat Website Pictures/Videos
Weekly posts Likes and comments Snapchat Live photo or video updates Is only on the profile for 24 hours when posted Website Everything on our social media needs to be directed toward the website or derived from All social media platforms need to have a major presence on the website

8 Facebook was built off of “connecting the world on one platform”
On Facebook we can do live videos, post videos/photos, post recommendations for different things, create events, share news articles and stories Facebook is looked at as the all around “news source” whether it`s from family and friends or real news stations and companies

9 Twitter is the live update social media platform: “What is happening right now”
On Twitter you can tweet and retweet You can like certain posts You can quote certain posts and also reply to them When tweeting you can upload the tweet with a photo or video.

10 Instagram is one of the newest social media platforms we have seen
On Instagram it`s more of “your story” It`s your photos and videos you post and write about You can like other content but you cannot share it to your profile

11 Snapchat is another present day social media platform
Snapchat also falls under that category of “what is happening right now” Any videos and photos posted, will only be able to be viewed for 24hours from when it was posted.

12 5. How to Boost our Social Media Engagement
Facebook users alone watch 100 million hours of video every single day & 82% of Twitter users watch video on that network. Video is something that will help on all platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. People love to just watch and listen. It does not have to be perfect videoing, “behind the scene videoing” is a great way to receive engagement The best video length for Facebook engagement is about 1 minute and 30 seconds and twitters direct upload max length is 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Photos that are posted in a post have an 85% interaction rate on Facebook and a 35% increase of retweets on Twitter Hashtags- these can get you a 43% increase in post interaction on Instagram and Twitter – DO NOT HASHTAG ON FACEBOOK

13 6. Be consistent You must be consistent with posting and updating to receive more likes, more followers, and more engagement Because all social media is on your phone, one person can update everything at once every day from there phone Once you start on this consistent basis, people take notice just by following or being friends with other people on social media.
