TSW review all editing and formatting skills in a document.—Thurs. TSW demonstrate their strengths and weaknesses on editing skills on Ch. 2 Post Test with 70% accuracy.— Fri. Chapter 2

3 Mon. Daily Agenda-Classwork
Pre Bell -Time Writing—3 minute writing (Go to Edu Typing and click on Complete Time Writings and complete 3-Minute-Passport to the World—2 times) The teacher will introduce Ch. 2 Editing p. 23 in text and give the purpose of this lesson. Pass out and explain Homework Handout. Have students to complete ten key terms in Ch. 2 on pages 24, 31, and 36 by looking up the definitions of each key term from this week’s vocabulary. Teacher will discuss key terms orally. Students will use the Frayer Model on their homework sheet with two (2) vocabulary words from today lesson in Ch. 2. Students will read and follow directions in the text on Alignment on Lesson 2-1 pages and complete the word processing (typing) activity and save it to your M drive. Have students listen and follow along while you have them to type word processing activity on Ch. 2-1. If time permits, allow students to go to and analyze questions about John F. Kennedy. (Integrating Lang. Arts with ICT) Closure: Wrap up lesson with Exit Question from today lesson. Homework: Create sentences with half of all the key terms in Ch. 2 and Frayer Model Chapter 2

10 Aligning Text at the Left
Default alignment is at the left. Default settings can be changed. Left aligned text is smooth on the left and jagged at the right. Hold Ctrl and press the letter L to left align the line or paragraph. Click Align Text Left button on the Home Ribbon. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

11 Aligning Text in the Center
Centered text is jagged on both sides, centered on the line. Click the Center button on the Home Ribbon. Hold Ctrl and press the letter E to center a line or paragraph. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

12 Aligning Text at the Right
Right aligned text is smooth on the right and jagged on the left. Click the Align Text Right button on the Home Ribbon. Hold Ctrl and press the letter R to right align a line or paragraph. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

13 Aligning Text to Justified
Justified text is smooth on both sides. Click the Justify button on the Home Ribbon. Hold Ctrl and press the letter J to justify a line or paragraph. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

14 Checking the Spelling and Grammar
Red squiggly lines mean a misspelled word. Green squiggly lines mean a grammatical error. Click the Spelling & Grammar button on the Review Ribbon. Press F7 to start the spelling and grammar checker. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

15 Adding a Header Click Insert from the Home Ribbon.
Type name at the left. Hour/day in the center. Assignment name at the right. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

16 Double-Spacing the Text
Select text first if more than one paragraph. Click the Line Spacing button on the Home Ribbon. Hold Ctrl and press the number 2 to double-space. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

17 Using the Thesaurus Tool that lists synonyms and antonyms for words.
Click the Thesaurus button on the Review Ribbon. Right-click and choose synonyms. Hold Shift and press F7. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

18 Finding and Replacing Text
Click Find from the Home Ribbon. Find will place your cursor at the beginning of each occurrence of the word. Click Replace from the Home Ribbon. Replace will actually replace a word or formatting with something else. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

19 Copying and Pasting Text
Original text or object stays in the document when copying. “Copy” of item is stored to the clipboard in computer’s memory. Click the Copy button on the Home Ribbon. Can paste an unlimited number of times. Click the Paste button on the Home Ribbon. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

20 Cutting and Pasting Text
Original text or object is removed from document when cutting. Item is saved to clipboard. Click the Cut button on the Home Ribbon. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

21 Cutting and Pasting Using Keyboard Shortcuts
Hold Ctrl and press the letter C to copy. Hold Ctrl and press the letter V to paste. Hold Ctrl and press the letter X to cut. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

22 Summary The default setting is left-aligned text.
Text can be changed to left-, center-, right-aligned, or justified. Red squiggly lines in the text indicate a misspelled word. Green squiggly lines in the text indicate a mistake in grammar. If you want to change the alignment of more than one paragraph, select the text first. There are also keyboard shortcuts to align the text. Chapter 2 Spotlight on Word Processing

23 Summary (continued) A header is text that can be inserted at the top of every page of a document. The thesaurus shows both synonyms and antonyms for words. The Replace tool is a quick way to replace several occurrences of text. Cutting removes the selected text and places it on the clipboard. Copying makes a copy of the selected text and places it on the clipboard. Pasting takes whatever is on the clipboard and places it in the document. You can paste an unlimited number of times.
